Gino*bleep* Elementary School

So that nobody gets upset over names being used without asking, and…well, my brother, Rody and Kudopel know the other reason, I chose not to use the full name of the elementary school where I used to work, but if you’ve ever been to Okinawa, you can probably guess it.

I did a lot of drawing while I was at this school as an English teacher.  I had to, because they hardly had any suitable materials for teaching.  Good thing I like drawing (actually, to tell the truth, I enjoyed the making of materials a heck of a lot more than I enjoyed the actual teaching).  Also, from time to time, I was asked to create things for the school other than flashcards and other teaching materials, an honor not bestowed upon most ALTs which helped some of the slower Japanese staff members to realize that gaijin, too, are human beings who have artistic abilities just like Japanese.  I only hope to continue to enjoy such opportunities at my new job, or perhaps just write children’s books on the side, which is what I really wanted to do anyway.
