Sentorayaki 千虎焼き

These were made at my good friend Nick Centala’s place, Sentorayaki, up in the mountainous jungles of Nago.  The wood-burning kiln, which my husband is helping to build, will be done mid-October!

Until then, these guys patiently await firing.

Akita-ken

A Shiba-ken which ended up looking more like an Akita-ken.

Ai-chan and Kuro (Aguu)

These adorable little Aguus are named Ai-chan (for me!) and Kuro-kun.  The real ones live at Neo Park.  The day I made them, Matsuda-san at Neo Park told me a sad story about how an Aguu who was there before them was kept in solitary confinement by the head zookeeper (not a very nice guy) and when Matsuda-san finally let him out to play, he had lost the ability to walk from being confined for so long.  If any animal rights activists with Japanese ability are reading, please write to Neo Park’s website and complain about this guy!

Deranged murderer smilingI am not really a deranged murderer and would never cut my husband’s head in half for real.  But when I had to convert the bust of Rody I was making into a mask, everyone insisted I commemorate the moment on film.
